In Issad, 120km to the north-east of Saint Petersburg, a dairy company underwent rapid growth in a very short time. It therefore needed to quickly expand its infrastructure.
In addition to new milking sheds, paving was also required for feed storage. The paving had to cover a large area because the feed, consisting of hay and grass, has to be stored for a periods of around 9 months. This is due in part to the long Russian winters.

By applying RoadCem stabilisation, it was possible to convert the on-site material (fine organic sand) into flexible, tough and impermeable foundations. As on-site material was used, the construction time was considerably shorter than with traditional methods.

The RoadCem stabilisation had to be sufficiently capable of withstanding thermal stress caused by the bitter Russian winters, which regularly see temperatures plummet below -30 degrees Celsius.
Despite being subjected to extreme cold for a number of years, not a single crack has appeared in the RoadCem stabilisation. This crack-resistance is vital as a barrier must be maintained between the crops and the subsoil.

During storage of the crops, acids are formed that can damage both asphalt and ordinary concrete. Asphalt coating was therefore not an option. Instead, a concrete coating using ConcreCem was used to cover the stabilisation. ConcreCem provides extra resistance against the damage caused by the presence of acids.
